Are you wondering about your favorite Christmas Classics streaming this Christmas? Netflix has a great selection, but not all the classics from holidays past are there. This list lets you know where your favorite holiday movies are available this year.
Christmas Classics Streaming Now
Sadly, viewers will find that many of their holiday favorites are not able to be streamed without a small fee from various sites.
Amazon Instant Video
Some of your Christmas favorites can be found on Amazon Instant Video and a few of them stream for free! Others you will need to rent or buy to watch online. The classic animation that most adults remember from their childhood – Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer – is not available at this time on the site, but many of your favorites are. Of all of the streaming content providers we researched, Amazon Instant Video had the most classic Christmas movies available for streaming, even though they often required a fee. Other sites had newer holiday films that were similar in selection to our lists for Netflix.

Christmas Classics Volume I — Somewhere In Dreamland, Santa’s Surprise, Hector’s Hectic Life, Snow Foolin, Jack Frost, Christmas Comes But Once A Year, The Night Before Christmas, The Shanty Where Santy Lives
Jack Frost (2009) — Buddy Hackett stars in this animation as the voice of a hedgehog that tells the story of how Jack Frost became a human boy.
Veggie Tales: The Little Drummer Boy (2011) — Junior Asparagus is a young child who discovers the true meaning of Christmas.
Must be Purchased or Rented to Stream
A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965) — The lovable Peanuts gang in this animation about the true meaning of Christmas.
A Christmas Carol — Amazon prime has several versions that are based on the Charles Dickens classic, including the 2009 animation with Jim Carrey, the 1999 version with Patrick Stewart and the 1984 version with George C. Scott.
Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000) — This version of the holiday classic stars Jim Carrey in the title role of mean Mr. Grinch. Will Whoville be saved?
Elf (2003) — Stars Will Ferrell as a man who has been raised as an elf and who then goes to NYC to find his birth family.
Home Alone (1990) — This is the original movie that spawned several sequels. Stars Macaulay Culkin as a young boy who is mistakenly left alone in his family’s home at Christmas.
It’s a Wonderful Life (1947) — Starring James Stewart in this holiday favorite about a depressed family man that is helped by an angel to discover that his life has had meaning.
Miracle on 34th Street (1947) — The original classic starring Maureen O’Hara and John Payne in the story about a young girl who must help Santa prove, in court no less, that he is real!
National Lampoon’s A Christmas Vacation (1989) — Chevy Chase stars as Chuck Griswold, the patriarch of the family who leads his family through a series of hilarious misadventures on their vacations.
Polar Express (2004) — Tom Hanks stars in this magical Christmas journey to the North Pole.
The Little Drummer Boy (1968) — This is the classic animation many adults remember from their childhood about the little drummer boy who stumbles upon the first Christmas thousands of years ago.
Hallmark Channel Everywhere
Similar to HBO Go, cable subscribers that have Hallmark in their package can sign in with their cable login information and stream some Hallmark programming.Over 50 of your favorite holiday movies made by Hallmark can be found here, from Hallmark’s version of A Christmas Carol, starring William Shatner, to Window Wonderland with Naomi Judd. If your cable provider offers Hallmark, then you may want to login and stream your favorite Hallmark Christmas movies on demand and for free!
Hulu Plus Christmas
This provider of streaming content does have a selection of Christmas movies available for streaming, some of which were on our Netflix list of Holiday movies that are now streaming. A notable exception is that Hulu Plus has a wider range of television shows, so it’s possible to find the Classic Christmas episodes from many of your favorite TV shows, such as the holiday classics from the I Love Lucy series.
Christmas on Network TV:ABC, CBS and NBC
If you still have a cable subscription, you should be able to watch many of your favorite holiday classics directly from the Networks, including the classic animation Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, which can only be found broadcast on CBS this year. Check your local cable listings for lineups and broadcast times and stream them online if available or set your Tivo or other DVR to record them as many of your favorites will be available only during the broadcast.
