Comcast Corporation (or XFINITY) is the largest Cable TV operator and Home Internet service provider in the United States. Since it’s such a big company, Comcast offers so many channels and networks that it’s difficult to decide which shows you really want to watch. Unfortunately, a lot of the channels on TV (except for some interesting ones like Discovery, A&E, National Geographic, and Sci-Fi), aren’t worth watching and have very little educational (or even entertaining) value. However, Comcast TV Guide listings include plenty of good shows, news programs, and movies worth viewing.
If you’re like me, you often find yourself scrolling through hundreds of channels to find the show you want to watch. To help solve the problem of endless channel surfing, Comcast has come up with a user-friendly solution.
The company released its new Comcast TV Guide application designed specifically for the iPhone, iPad, or iPod. The app works as both a remote control and a TV guide, and it’s also compatible with your existing Comcast box.
The new app offers an alternative way to watch television, and you can view On Demand shows and movies with your iPad — and iPhone, or iPod touch. You can also any of these devices to search On Demand and TV listings. Whether at home or on vacation, you’ll never miss your favorite TV shows.
While on vacation, you can use your iPhone to schedule your DVR and record your favorite movie, football game, or major sports event.
As a bonus, you can restrict your channel listings to your favorite channels. For example, if you like to watch MSNBC, Discovery, and TNT, you can program your device to list those channels only, saving you a lot of time flipping through channels in order to find the ones you want to watch.
Enhance your TV viewing experience with the following features
Manage your DVR Remotely
Use the iPhone app to switch between rooms and assign DVR recordings to various WiFi devices in the house. That way, you can watch shows and movies from your favorite networks from any room in your home, including premium channels like HBO, Starz, Showtime, and Cinemax.
Don’t miss out on your cable channels like TNT, TBS, Cartoon Network and BBC America. If your favorite football game and movie are on at the same time, you can watch the game from one room, and program your DVR to record the movie from another room.
Watch TV on your iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch
Turn your remote device into a TV screen. If you’re not too enthusiastic about the movies offered on your next plane trip, pull out your iPad, and tune into your favorite channel by pressing a few buttons. Why pay the airline when you can watch your favorite shows for free?
Simply press Play Now to scroll through the selection of the hottest titles, and then press “Watch” to view your favorite show.
Change channels on your TV with your remove device
With the XFINITY TV app, you can change the channels on your TV. You don’t even need a remote.
Find a program you want to watch in TV Listings (or enter the channel number using Channel Keypad), and then press Watch on TV to change the TV’s channel from the Comcast TV Guide.
For On Demand viewing, tune directly to the desired On Demand program. Then, use the Comcast remote to confirm your purchase, and start the program.
Search for your favorite shows
To navigate through the thousands of TV shows and movies, press “Search” at any time and search by title, actor or keyword. You can also filter by genre, network, high definition, and more.
Or, create a list of Favorite Channels in TV listings and use your Favorites to filter only the channels you’ve selected.
View customized TV listings by area
Browse the On Demand library featuring thousands of titles, and find the desired show using: Channel Keypad, Date & Time Picker, and Favorite Channels.
With all the options that the TV app has to offer, you’d think it would cost a fortune, however, it’s free. You can download it on to your iPhone (or whichever remote device you prefer) by visiting the following website. The download is fairly simple, and all you need is an iPad, iPhone (3G or newer) or iPod touch (2G or newer), or iOS 4.0 (or later).
In order to keep up with the advent of technology, Comcast will continue to come up with more innovative ideas to enhance your TV viewing experience.
