New CBS Shows: The Crazy Ones

“The Crazy Ones”

Starring: Sarah Michelle Gellar & Robin Williams
Premiere Date: Thursday, September 26, 2013

Synopsis: Williams and Gellar play father-and-daughter team Simon and Sydney Roberts who work together at a highly successful marketing firm. Though Simon is an advertising genius, he uses highly unconventional methods, which frequently gets him in hot water with his straight-laced daughter Sydney, who has to rein him in on more than one occasion.

The two must balance their extreme personality differences so they can work together and continue to set the advertising world on fire without setting each other on fire in the process.

“We Are Men

Starring: Chris Smith, Tony Shalhoub, Kal Penn, and Jerry O’Connell
Premiere Date: Monday, September 30, 2013

Synopsis: Carter (Smith) has found himself recently single after being left at the altar by his fiancee. He moves into a short-term apartment complex that he shares with three other bachelors (Shalhoub, Penn and O’Connell) who refer to themselves as a “band of brothers” that come from all walks of life and have plenty of questionable advice to offer the newly single Carter about love, happiness, and how to deal with the opposite sex.

Synopsis: From executive producer Chuck Lorre (Of “Two and a Half Men” and “The Big Bang Theory” fame) this comedy is about a newly sober single mom named Christy (Faris) trying to raise two children while dealing with her alcoholic mother, a waitressing job, an ex-husband, and a married lover (who just so happens to be her boss, as well). Though Christy is trying to move past her questionable history, she’ll have to overcome all sorts of new obstacles if she is going to succeed on her road to total sobriety and becoming the best mom she can be to her two children.

“The Millers”

Starring: Will Arnett, Beau Bridges, JB Smooth, Eve Moon and Margo Martindale

Synopsis: Nathan Miller (Arnett) is a recently divorced news reporter who unintentionally causes his parents’ divorce (by giving them news of his own). On her own for the first time in 43 years, Nathan’s mom decides to move in with him. Making matters worse, his father follows suit and moves in with Nathan’s sister. Even though the family seems to be breaking apart, in reality they have never been closer, Even if Nathan and his sister aren’t exactly enjoying their extra company.

Synopsis: From executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer (known for the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise), “Hostages” is a thriller starring Emmy Award winner Toni Collette as Dr. Ellen Sanders, a talented surgeon who finds herself at the center of a chilling political conspiracy after her family is taken hostage by rogue FBI Agent Duncan Carlisle (Dylan McDermott). Sanders must make some difficult choices with tremendous national and personal consequences, in order to save her family and stay true to her own personal morals.


Starring: Josh Holloway, Marg Helgenberger and Meghan Ory
Premiere Date: Monday, February 24, 2014

Synopsis: Holloway plays a high-tech intelligence operative named Gabriel who has a super-computer microchip implanted in his brain that connects him directly into the worldwide information grid. He can always access the Interent, Wi-Fi, and satellite data, and is the United State’s most valuable secret weapon, (and the most sophisticated piece of technology ever invented with a beating heart).

He must use his unique abilities to protect himself (and his organization) from a variety of threats while his co-worker (Meghan Ory) tries to keep Gabriel’s colorful personality and penchant for reckless and unpredictable behavior in check.

These six new CBS shows join the network’s returning series, which include current hits like “The Big Bang Theory,” “Person of Interest,” “Mike & Molly,” “Elementary,” “Two Broke Girls,” and more. Though these series haven’t premiered yet, you can get a feel for them and read some early reviews of each show’s pilot episode at The Huffington Post and decide for yourself whether these new CBS shows are worth checking out when they debut later this year.
