Since Netflix has grown into the behemoth it is today, many movie production companies have been reluctant to give Netflix their new releases. That has since prompted Netflix to finance their own movies that will debut both in theaters and on their streaming video service at the same time.
It appears the first movie that Netflix will do this with is going to be the sequel to “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” which is expected to come out in August of 2015. The movie is titled, “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend,” and it will have some of the original cast members. Director Ang Lee, however, is not tied to this film. The movie will be rolled out in over 800 Imax theaters.
Other studios have already begun to release some movies in theaters and on video on-demand services, but at a higher rental fee.
