Comcast On Demand makes keeping up with the newest movies easy in this day of hectic work schedules. Comcast is one of the nation’s leading Cable TV and High Speed Internet providers, and they’ve worked hard to keep up with the needs of the ever-changing television industry customer to give those customers what they want — immediate and easy access to the shows and movies they love.
Comcast’s XFINITY On Demand Features
Every day, it seems Comcast is adding new gadgets and features to Comcast On Demand. Not only are a wide array of popular television shows available the day after they air, but they periodically showcase older seasons to help you get hooked on something you haven’t given a chance before or to catch up on what you’ve just discovered. Coupled with their vast movie library that is always rotating, it’s impossible to run out of things to watch.
Better still is the ease with which you navigate Comcast On Demand. You can search for a television show by title, by genre, or by television network. Enjoy shows like “Chopped“? Check out the Food Network category in their listings to see what other shows you’ll love.
Need a drink, popcorn, or to use the restroom during your show? You can pause, rewind, and fast forward your program. If you have to stop watching halfway through, Comcast’s XFINITY will save it for up to 48 hours, so you can come back later and pick up exactly where you left off.
Comcast has also added the handy queue feature which enables you to enter your favorite programs. On Demand will let you know when they air, and add new episodes to your queue so you don’t have to worry about being home at a certain time. This is very similar to the pricey DVR features, which require a separate box in order to view all of your recordings.
It’s For More than Just TV Shows
But On Demand isn’t just about TV and movies anymore. Comcast’s XFINITY On Demand offers features such as a karaoke section, complete with a wide array of songs and genres to choose from. Vehix.com also enables you to browse for a new car, read reviews, and see prices straight from On Demand.
XFINITY is also a great place for kids. Browse their favorite cartoons and channels to find just what they want to watch, while enabling the parental controls to ensure they aren’t viewing programs you would rather their little eyes not see. Not only that, but these parental controls are accessible from the TV, mobile smartphone or computer.
The Good Things Customers Are Saying
Comcast XFINITY subscribers love the ease of access and the ever-growing library of movies and television shows right at their fingertips without an extra monthly fee for programs, such as Hulu or Netflix. Comcast On Demand makes it easy to catch up on your favorite shows. And the best part about it — it’s included with even the basic XFINITY packages without having to purchase a box as you would for DVR services.
XFINITY customers may also enjoy having access to their account and many of the above mentioned features on their smartphones, computers, and tablets.
Some of the Negatives
While Comcast On Demand contains a huge library of movies, they do sometimes tack on an extra charge to view them. Their free movie library is on the smaller side, and the paid movies can range in price from one dollar to seven or eight. Granted, this amount is tacked onto your next bill, but the costs can add up quickly if you enjoy having a family movie night even once a week.
Also, while the television show library is constantly growing, that doesn’t mean you’ll find every show you like to watch available. Shows are also not available as soon as they air, but rather you have to wait until the following day — or sometimes longer — for it to appear in the On Demand library. This can be frustrating, and it is one of the benefits of DVR over the On Demand service. While most shows will let you fast forward through the previews, not all of them will. Some will give you a notification upon starting playback that fast forwarding has been disabled on that particular show.
Overall, Comcast On Demand is a highly entertaining and useful service, excellent for those who don’t necessarily want the added cost of a DVR box, and for those who enjoy browsing new shows to watch. However, if you’re a stickler for getting your shows immediately when you want them without fail, you might consider upgrading your service.
